No Worksheet Wednesdays!

http://primarychalkboard.blogspot.com/2015/03/no-worksheet-wednesday-3.html

Today I am linking up with The Primary Chalkboard for No Worksheet Wednesdays!
Today we took the time to review some good ol' place value! We whipped out our base ten blocks and got to work.  We reviewed place value, addition, and subtraction.
I love using base ten blocks because they help my students make concrete connections.  They sometimes have trouble with the abstract of math.  Today we used these, but sometimes we use the unifix cubes so they can pull them on with subtraction with regrouping.
We will continue to review this skill until the end of the year.  So glad we were able to have a little fun with the blocks today.

What did you guys do today for No Worksheet Wednesday?

Let's Stay on Track with Exit Tickets

Hi Friends!

I've decided to do some posts on staying on track.  It's so hard for our students to stay focused at times.  It is important that we hold them accountable.  I've found that if my students know they will be asked to explain, discuss, or write about a topic, it keeps them on track.

This week I want to focus on exit ticketsExit tickets are a great way to get feedback from students.  Exit tickets help assess student learning  and understanding of a topic.  With exit tickets you can either ask a question related to the task, or you can let students tell what they learned and what they need help with.  This is a great way to work on grouping your students according to strengths and weaknesses, too.

I enjoy using exit tickets in my classroom.  Sometimes I attach them to the anecdotal notes I take on my students.  It helps me provide more specific feedback.  Most of all, my students love using exit tickets because they can express how they feel, they are private so your students feel safe with sharing, and they are just plain fun!  My students think having tickets is like having a special pass.

If you are using exit tickets I would love to know how you use them in your classroom.  If you haven't used them yet, give them a try!  You can get them in my TpT store.  Have fun using them in your classroom.

Ms. DeCarbo for Wordless Wednesday!  This is one of my favorite linky parties because I am a visual person and I love looking at pictures.

This week I am revamping my math centers.  I have decided to group them by the Common Core domain.  I think my students will do well with this and it will be easier for me to provide differentiated instruction to my math groups.

My question:  What do you do for your math groups?  How do you differentiate instruction?

I can't wait to see what you guys are doing!

Today I spent a few more hours in my classroom getting things ready for the new school year.
I can't believe the first day of teacher in-service is tomorrow! Summer is gone. :(

What are some things you do to keep your
                  classroom neat and organized?
