Five for Friday Link Up

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!
This weeks has been pretty good!

On Monday I attended The SCORE Prize event.  This is a big deal for schools in Tennessee.  The prize is awarded to schools throughout the state who have shown a significant amount of growth and achievement.  My aunt was on the selection committee.  I had a great time networking with other professionals and watching the schools get awarded.

I finally put up a data wall.  I got this cute idea from Pinterest from a teacher blogger whose site is schoolgirlstyle.com.  My flowers don't look nearly as cute as hers, but this will do.  The data is based on reading levels from Fountas and Pinnell.  I love it because it was easy for my students to understand and it is very decorative.

This week we worked on research about spiders and did some  writing to go along with Diary of a Spider.  The kids had a great time learning about these creepy creatures.  I think some of them were a little spooked!  We had a great time with this assignment.

Technically this happened last Friday night, but I didn't get a chance to blog about it.  My school had a Fall Festival.  The kids loved it!  My team did a photo booth for the kids with props.  It was a great time!

Can you guess what we will be doing this afternoon?  That's right, Halloween PARTY!  My kids are super excited.  They brought in lots of good treats to share with each other.  We are going to have a blast!!!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Throwback Thursday

Today I am linking up with The Teacher's Desk 6 for Throwback Thursday!!  I haven't been blogging long so I don't have many throwbacks, but this was one of my first posts!  The first picture is of my classroom before I moved in.  It looks totally different now.  You can see what it looks like now below.

This is my new classroom.  It needs LOTS of TLC!  I hope to have it ready  for my students on August 6th when we start school.  I've chosen a sailing/nautical theme so stay tuned for more updated pictures.

My classroom now looks a little different.  I put some things up and painted a little but not too much because we will be moving again so our new school can be built.

Technology Thursday

Oh yea!! I love technology so when I saw this Linky Party I was super excited!  This week I had my students doing research about spiders because we were reading the book Diary of a Spider.  Some of you may have already heard of this site, but I just discovered this search engine designed for students.  I like it because it limits the amount of results that students are able to see.  That means that a lot of inappropriate things are blocked.  So, next time you have a research project, try this site out.  I can't wait to see what other technology sites and apps you guys share.

Wordless Wednesday-October 29

Today I am linking up with Ms. Decarbo at Sugar and Spice for Wordless Wednesday!

Lately I have been doing more and more with exit tickets.  I noticed I was beginning to use lots of paper.  I pulled out my handy dandy ActivExpressions and now my students complete their exit tickets with them.  I love how fast I can look at their responses and provide them with feedback.  I can also print out the results and use them along with anecdotal notes I keep on my students.

How do you use these type of devices in your classroom?
