Throwback Thursday

Today I am linking up with The Teacher's Desk 6 for Throwback Thursday!!  I haven't been blogging long so I don't have many throwbacks, but this was one of my first posts!  The first picture is of my classroom before I moved in.  It looks totally different now.  You can see what it looks like now below.

This is my new classroom.  It needs LOTS of TLC!  I hope to have it ready  for my students on August 6th when we start school.  I've chosen a sailing/nautical theme so stay tuned for more updated pictures.

My classroom now looks a little different.  I put some things up and painted a little but not too much because we will be moving again so our new school can be built.

Technology Thursday

Oh yea!! I love technology so when I saw this Linky Party I was super excited!  This week I had my students doing research about spiders because we were reading the book Diary of a Spider.  Some of you may have already heard of this site, but I just discovered this search engine designed for students.  I like it because it limits the amount of results that students are able to see.  That means that a lot of inappropriate things are blocked.  So, next time you have a research project, try this site out.  I can't wait to see what other technology sites and apps you guys share.

Wordless Wednesday-October 29

Today I am linking up with Ms. Decarbo at Sugar and Spice for Wordless Wednesday!

Lately I have been doing more and more with exit tickets.  I noticed I was beginning to use lots of paper.  I pulled out my handy dandy ActivExpressions and now my students complete their exit tickets with them.  I love how fast I can look at their responses and provide them with feedback.  I can also print out the results and use them along with anecdotal notes I keep on my students.

How do you use these type of devices in your classroom?

Five for Friday!

This week I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for the Five for Friday Linky Party.

Assessments, assessments, assessments!!!!  This year my district switched to Fountas and Pinell Text Leveled Assessments.  It has taken a while to get used to these.
In fact, this is what I spent most of my week doing.  I am so glad I finally finished these assessments!!! Woohoooo!!!

Finally got my little make shift incentive store together.  Totally not what I wanted it to look like.  I am going to do a much better job next week.  My weekend project will be to create real tags with the points listed and containers to hold them all.

I helped coordinate a back to school meet and greet this week.  We collected school supplies for students in need.  It was also a chance to network with other professionals.  I had a good time.
Today was fun!  We made compost bags.  We have been learning about soil and this was an activity to go along with it.  The kids loved the project!  They thought I went out and found all of the worms myself.  LOL!

Okay, this made my week!  One of my students put this on my desk.   I thought it was really sweet.  It put the biggest smile on my face!

I hope you all enjoy your weekend!  I am going to hang out with some friends tonight and relax.  Tomorrow I will be getting things ready for next week at work.
Have a great weekend!!

Today I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

This week was the first full week of school for my district.  I had a great time learning about my students.  I also learned some great things that will help me with instruction. I learned about Thinking Maps and I am excited to teach them to my students.  I think the will be a big help.

I created a Back to School Packet to help get others started this school year.  I think the students will really like it.  It can be found at my TpT store .

I got some FREE supplies from a retiring teacher.  I am going to give the books as Christmas gifts to my students.  Yay!

More learning!  This year we are using Universal Screeners to test our students in Aimsweb.  We learned some valuable information to help assess the students.
Today is Friday!  When I get off I am going to treat myself to some much needed rest and relaxation!!  Am I the only one who gets excited about going to bed on Friday nights?!?  LOL!

                                 Have a great weekend!
